Working as a Associate Project Engineer, you will be the authority/support person for various engineering projects in Automation & Electrification Service, Process Automation Energy Industries (PAEN) in Houston, Texas, providing technical details, costs and deliverables for sales proposals. You will be responsible for assisting all aspects of system implementation of a project including loading systems, configuring networks and preparing systems for shipment. In this role, you will prepare and modify various computer and network systems by applying standard design concepts. Reimbursement for relocation is not available.

Your responsibilities

  • Support ongoing DCS (Distributed control system) system strategies for loading standards for Symphony and 800xA product lines
  • Support engineers and project teams within PAEN region with project design reviews (Computer Specifications, Network Architecture) and direct contract support
  • Assist and verify logic development and hardware builds of DCS systems
  • Assist with performing installations of hardware and software in several environments including Windows based servers with an emphasis on Windows 2019 server
  • Assist with configuring system networks comprised of servers, workstations, communication devices and peripheral equipment
  • Support physical and electronic setup and alteration of computers and system networks to meet customer and contract specifications
  • Assist proposals teams for estimating hours and equipment
  • Support and drive quality efforts in project execution
  • Assist with on-site commissioning support
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately up to 20 percent of the time
Your background

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or similar engineering degree
  • Up to 2 years of experience in configuration of computer systems or networks preferred
  • Knowledge and/or experience administrating Information Systems and Virtual environments preferred
  • Strong technical knowledge of Windows configuration and administration, operating system fundamentals, and network components and infrastructure including networking hardware and basic networking theory is preferred
  • Expertise in virtualization, routing and firewalls preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate and work with diverse discipline project teams
  • Ability to learn new methods and technologies with attention to detail
  • Up to 20% domestic travel, international limited
  • Candidates must be able to read, write and speak English fluently
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
