Mgr III Production

MAIN FOCUS

The Manager III Production oversees a production area in either manufacturing or packaging and has overall responsibility and accountability for the area including meeting production volumes, providing direction, coaching and mentorship to production managers, supervisors and coaches, and is escalation point to resolve operational, production, financial, quality, safety, technical and employee related concerns. The role is also responsible for ensuring that operational improvements are achieved through structured Operational Excellence/Product Supply Systems initiatives. This role is a first shift role but has accountability for a three-shift operation and is expected to be available and visible to all shifts depending on needs

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for HSE and quality compliance, schedule attainment, and customer service as related to assigned packaging or manufacturing area stream
  • Leads a team of Supervisors and Coaches in either a packaging or manufacturing area and ensures production quotas are met based on scheduling criteria
  • Plans and organizes cross functional activities, may lead or assist in projects, and is expected to ensure continuous improvements in all processes of manufacturing and packaging
  • Incumbent acts as primary back up in absence of a Director level
  • Provides non-technical leadership and supervision to Supervisors, and Coaches for all aspects of the manufacturing and packaging process
  • Responsible for performance of the assigned packaging/manufacturing area including safety, people, quality
  • Responsible for Operational Excellence of all areas and financial variance reporting for areas of responsibilities
  • Drives engagement and culture throughout the assigned area
  • Responsible for innovation across the manufacturing or packaging area, collaborating with Operational Excellence and driving Product Supply Systems in the areas of responsibility
  • Manages technical interface and production issues in support of the Department goals and objectives
  • Serve as liaison with various staff groups (i.e. Quality Assurance, Engineering, Product Development, and Process Technology)
  • Manages operations within budgetary and headcount commitments
  • Makes recommendations according to the business operating climate
  • Responsible for Operational KPI's and Product Supply System deployment. Ensure compliance with company and regulatory practices
  • Review cost reduction programs with respect to waste and other inefficiencies
  • Evaluate equipment needs and methods changes; directly responsible for recommending operational procedural changes
  • Work with staff groups, such as Process Technology, Quality Assurance, Engineering/Maintenance, and Production Planning & Inventory Control, and Human Resources to maximize efficiency, performance, and ensure or improve product quality
  • Escalation point for complex issues including Employee Relations
  • Works in a team-oriented environment with other Packaging or Manufacturing areas
  • Serve as Execution Lead and focal point to represent the production requirements and needs in Project Management topics inside area of responsibility.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Associate's Degree
  • Demonstrated ability to be proactive vs reactive, own the function, and allow decision making at the lowest level possible
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and build effective teams
  • Working knowledge of packaging /solid dosage & liquid mfg operations
  • Thorough knowledge of manufacturing procedures and processes
  • Knowledge of operating within budgetary constraints required
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with all levels of personnel (i.e. hourly production, site management, etc.) in a clear and concise manner required
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve problems and conflict in a positive manner utilizing appropriate interpersonal skills required
  • Provide constructive feedback to direct reports
  • Advanced leadership skills are required to effectively integrate the activities in new production processes
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS or BA Required (Engineering or Science Degree is preferred) or Associates degree with a minimum of 8 years of experience
  • 10+ years of leadership/production/supervisory experience in a government regulated industry preferred (FDA, pharmaceutical industry preferred)
