The increased customer use of Florida's roads has resulted in instances of reduced pavement life expectancy. Accurately predicting pavement performance is an effective approach to cost-saving, maintaining the pavement in optimal condition, and prolonging its service life. However, the current asphalt pavement performance prediction models require increased accuracy to better acquire the changes in pavement performance under varying traffic and environmental conditions. This position will work with the materials and research engineer to create a prediction model to better understand factors effective pavement performance.
In the role of Predictive Pavement Research Specialist, we'll count on you to:
  • Researching current information to better create a model for pavement performance factors
  • Identify key factors that impact the longevity of pavement life
  • Work to create strategies to identify potential pavement performance areas
  • Create strategies to mitigate poor pavement performance
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 3 years of asphalt construction and materials experience
  • Asphalt pavement design experience
  • Asphalt mix design development experience
  • Aggregate producer experience
Required Qualifications
  • 3 years contract related experience; advanced degree or contract certification program may substitute for years of experience
  • Professional, self-motivated, well-organized and detail-oriented with the flexibility and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines, with minimal management oversight
  • Excellent writing and people skills
  • Strong math and organizational skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
